Malaysian Shares Pare Gains on Profit Taking; MQ Technology's Shares Plunge 25%

Malaysian shares ended the two-session winning streak to end in red on Tuesday on profit-taking activities. The index opened higher but kept erasing gains as the session progressed.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, shed 6.69 points to end 0.42% lower at 1,575.97 at the close. The day ranged between 1,575.97 and 1,589.06.

In economic news, the official reserve assets of Bank Negara Malaysia amounted to $113.78 billion as of the end of March, the central bank disclosed Tuesday.

Meanwhile, other foreign currency assets totaled $1.62 billion as of March 31, the monetary policy maker disclosed.

In corporate news, shares of the industrial mold manufacturer MQ Technology (KLSE:MQTECH) slumped 25% today, and those of the end-to-end mobile application service provider Nexgram Holdings (KLSE:NEXGRAM) dropped about 17% on today's close.
