GLONGHUI, April 28 | Google filed a motion with the Virginia federal court on Friday to dismiss the Department of Justice's antitrust lawsuit against it for allegedly monopolizing digital advertising technology. The US Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Google in January 2023, accusing it of monopolizing digital advertising technology through “anti-competitive and exclusionary behavior.” According to reports, Google is currently seeking a summary judgment (Summary Judgment) to prevent the case from being tried in September as planned. Google argues that the Department of Justice has not proven that the company controls at least 70% of the market share, and this ratio has been used as a criterion for determining monopoly positions in previous cases. Google also believes that the Department of Justice “fabricated the market for this case,” excluded its main rivals, such as social media platforms, and claimed that the Department of Justice's lawsuit “went beyond the scope of antitrust law.”
