Glonghui, April 26 | T-Mobile US raised its annual forecast for the growth of monthly payphone subscribers as more users chose its discount plan and 5G network coverage was also expanding. The company currently expects 5.2 million to 5.6 million new users for the full year of 2024, compared to the previous forecast of 5 million to 5.5 million users. Although the overall market for postpaid phone users is shrinking, T-Mobile is still seen by analysts as the first choice because it gains share from smaller markets such as rural and commercial with low penetration rates. The company added 532,000 new monthly payphone users in the first quarter, the highest among peers, compared to analysts' expectations of 477,500.
