Malaysian Shares Maintain Winning Streak on Week's Open; Shares of Compugates, XOX Soar Up 50%

Malaysian shares ended in the green territory on the week's open as the investor sentiment remained upbeat for the fourth consecutive session.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, added 12.02 points to end 0.78% higher at 1,559.59 at the close. The day ranged between 1,548.38 and 1,559.94.

In economic news, the international reserves of Bank Negara Malaysia amounted to $113.4 billion as of April 15, the central bank disclosed Monday.

The reserves position is sufficient to finance 5.6 months of imports of goods and services, and is one time of the total short-term external debt, it said.

In corporate news, shares of the electronic products trader and renewable energy solutions provider Compugates Holdings (KLSE:COMPUGT), and the mobile virtual network operator XOX (KLSE:XOX) both surged 50% today.

Meanwhile, shares of the company engaged in transportation and chemical tank farm business Ancom Logistics (KLSE:ANCOMLB) rose 20% on Monday.
