The Civil Aviation Administration of China said that in the first quarter of 2024, civil aviation transportation production started well, and passenger traffic and cargo and mail traffic both hit the highest values in the first quarter of previous years. The entire industry completed a total transportation turnover of 34.93 billion tons/km, an increase of 45.6% year-on-year, and an increase of 12.9% over the same period in 2019. Among them, domestic routes completed 23.86 billion tons and kilometers, and international routes completed 11.07 billion tons and kilometers.
In terms of passenger transportation, the entire industry completed a total of nearly 180 million passenger traffic in the first quarter, the highest passenger traffic in the first quarter of the year, up 37.7% year on year and 10.2% over the same period in 2019. Among them, domestic routes completed 160 million passengers, an increase of 14.3% over the same period in 2019; international routes completed 14.120 million passengers, and the scale recovered to 78.0% in the same period in 2019.
In terms of freight, the entire industry completed a total of 2.07 million tons of cargo and mail in the first quarter, the highest freight volume in the first quarter of the year, up 34.4% year on year and 19.6% over the same period in 2019. Among them, domestic routes completed 1.232,000 tons, an increase of 8.2% over the same period in 2019; international routes completed 775,000 tons, an increase of 43.6% over the same period in 2019
