Malaysian Shares Extend Gains on Week's Open; Eupe's Shares Rally About 25%

Malaysian shares ended in the green zone on Monday, tracking gains in the region, as the investors sentiment remained upbeat.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, gained 7.95 points to end 0.52% higher at 1,544.02. The day ranged between 1,537.07 and 1,544.71.

In economic news, Malaysia's manufacturing activity continued to deteriorate in March, hitting a three-month low because of a sharp decline in new orders, S&P said in a report Monday.

The seasonally adjusted S&P Malaysia Manufacturing PMI dropped to 48.4 in March from 49.5 in February. Readings above 50 indicate an expansion, while below 50 signal a contraction.

In corporate news, shares of the residential property developer Eupe (KLSE:EUPE) jumped nearly 25% and those of the Chin Hin Group Property (KLSE:CHGP) soared about 21% today.

Meanwhile, shares of the jewelry company Tomei Consolidated (KLSE:TOMEI) gained over 10% on Monday's close.
