Bradley Gerstner, CEO of Altimeter Capital, said betting on Musk, especially in the artificial intelligence era where he is building market-leading models, is a “no-brainer.”
The US investor and hedge fund manager said he recently bought$Tesla (TSLA.US)$Shares, because “Tesla has the best product engineer and CEO in the world,” this CEO will lead the company to become a market leader.
Gerstner said, “When everyone has a negative view of such [a company], we start to get excited, especially when their founder is a brilliant product leader like Elon Musk.”
He also said that Tesla's fully automated driving (FSD) beta version V12 is also one of the reasons he is so optimistic about Tesla's stock.
“When I test-drove it, it was a bit like a ChatGPT moment,” he notes. “(Tesla) completely abandoned their previous deterministic model and went for an imitation learning model. This was the first time it really felt like a person was driving a car, and Waymo was still a deterministic model.”
Gerstner also positively reviewed the $199 monthly subscription price for the fully automated driving feature and compared it with$Apple (AAPL.US)$Prices were compared when the Apple Music streaming service was released.
“It's something no one else can easily replicate,” he said, “(Elon Musk) has put 5 million robotic cars on the road to gather data to train this imitation model; this makes it significantly better, and almost impossible to replicate by all traditional OEMs (original equipment manufacturers).”
Furthermore, Gerstner said that he believes Tesla's problems in the Chinese market are “very difficult,” but many negative factors have already been reflected in Tesla's stock price.
“So, it's not for the faint of heart,” he said. “You have to adjust your shareholding size appropriately. If the stock price falls, you have to be willing to buy more.”
