According to the Zhitong Finance App, Pearl River Shipping (00560) announced its 2023 annual results. The group achieved a turnover of HK$2,554 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 11.92%; profit attributable to shareholders of HK$114 million, an increase of 22.01% over the previous year; basic profit per share was 10.17 HK cents; and a final dividend of HK5 cents per share was proposed.

The announcement said that in terms of freight, the Group has firmly grasped national and regional strategic development opportunities and is making steady progress. During the year, container traffic reached 1.321,000 TEU, up 2.8% year on year; bulk cargo volume reached 1.143,000 tons, up 68.6% year on year; in terms of terminal handling business, container handling volume reached 1.095 million TEU, down 3.2% year on year; bulk cargo volume reached 8.96 million tons, down 12.2% year on year; container handling volume reached 184,000 TEU, down 8.0% year on year.

In terms of passenger transport, benefiting from the normalization of customs clearance at ports, the Group's performance is improving. The Group's cross-border waterway passenger routes have resumed in an orderly manner since January 8, 2023, and three new routes have been opened: “Shenzhen Airport Terminal - Hong Kong China Port City”, “Guangzhou Pazhou - Hong Kong China Port City”, and “Guangzhou Pazhou - Hong Kong International Airport”; the local ferry business has grasped the development opportunities brought about by customs clearance, and passenger traffic has rebounded. During the year, the total number of passenger transport agents was 1.476 million, up 1062.2% year on year, the number of passengers served at the pier was 953,000, up 650.4% year on year, and the number of local ferry passengers was 12.269 million, up 8.2% year on year.
