Constellium (NYSE:CSTM) said Monday its Ravenswood, West Virginia, plant was selected by the U.S. Department of Energy for as much as $75M in funding toward the implementation of low-to-no emissions technologies at the facility, supporting decarbonization of the casthouses, the plant's most energy intensive operation.
Constellium (CSTM) said the investment would support the installation of low-emissions SmartMelt furnaces that can operate using a range of fuels, including clean hydrogen, paving the way towards a zero carbon casthouse, and the project is expected to help maximize recycled scrap intake in addition to reducing carbon emissions.
The Ravenswood plant is one of the world's largest aluminum rolled products facilities.
