Malaysian shares ended in the green zone on Thursday, overcoming losses of the previous session. The investor interest rebounded after the decision by the US Federal Reserve to keep interest rates unchanged.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, gained 5.62 points to end 0.37% higher at 1,541.41. The day ranged between 1,534.66 and 1,542.33.
In economic news, Malaysia's short-term interbank rates closed steady today on Bank Negara Malaysia's operations to absorb surplus liquidity from the financial system. Liquidity in the traditional system rose to 27.60 billion ringgit from 25.22 billion ringgit, while liquidity in Islamic funds dropped to 20.32 billion ringgit from 23.15 billion ringgit previously.
In corporate news, shares of the information and communications technology company Vstecs (KLSE:VSTECS) and Sunway construction firm (KLSE:SUNWAY) jumped over 7% on today's close.
Meanwhile, shares of refined sugar producer MSM Malaysia Holdings (KLSE:MSM) gained over 5% on Thursday's close.
