KOSE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kobayashi Kazutoshi) has now been selected as the “Nadeshiko Brand*1” for the 5th year of the year of the year Reiwa, where the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange will jointly select companies that excel in promoting the active participation of women. Our company was first selected as a “quasi-Nadeshiko brand” in the 2nd year of Reiwa, and was selected as a “Nadeshiko brand” in the following fiscal year, so this is the second time it has been selected.

The “Nadeshiko Brand” aims to promote investment in companies and accelerate the efforts of each company by introducing companies that excel in promoting the active participation of women as attractive stocks for investors who place importance on “improving corporate value over the medium to long term” in order to accelerate the realization of a “gender-equal society” that the government is working on. Targeting all companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange announced a policy to evaluate companies that promote “career development support for female employees” and “balance support regardless of gender that enables co-working/co-parenting” in the Reiwa 5 survey.

The Group has set “the implementation of diversity and inclusion management” as one of the “three foundations” of its medium- to long-term vision “VISION2026*2.” In conjunction with this, in the “KOSE Sustainability Plan*3,” which summarizes sustainability-related initiatives and goals up to 2030, aimed at solving social issues, “Contributing to a society where people can play an active role regardless of gender” is set as one of the working themes, and the entire company is working to promote diversity and inclusiveness within and outside the company*4.

Based on the idea that diverse values are the source of innovation, in promoting the active participation of women based on human capital management strategies, we create flexible work styles that suit life events regardless of gender, and create systems and environments where each individual can fully demonstrate their abilities, balance work and childcare, and support each employee to actively demonstrate their individuality.

Specific Initiatives

・Implementation of personnel policies such as appointing leaders based on proper personnel evaluations, with an awareness of career paths where people can play an active role regardless of gender
・In addition to support female employees taking prenatal/postnatal leave, and childcare leave, we will be operating our own “Koseik Papa Support System” to promote men taking childcare leave from fiscal 2020
・Career consulting for those returning from childcare leave, establishment of an internal information sharing site to disseminate the experiences of male employees who have taken childcare leave, etc., and community creation where employees raising children can exchange information

At domestic group companies in fiscal 2023, the rate of women taking childcare leave was 100%, and the rate of men taking childcare leave was 82.4%. Furthermore, we have set a target of 100% ※5 in 2026 for the rate of men taking childcare leave.

Also, regarding the status of diversity promotion within the company, the corporate attitude of actively promoting the creation of workplaces where people can play an active role regardless of gender, such as “ratio of female directors 41.7% ※6 (as of 2024/3),” “ratio of female employees in management positions 30.8% ※7 (2023 results),” and “ratio of female employees in leadership positions 33.6% ※7 (2023 results),” was evaluated, and I think it was selected as the “Nadeshiko Brand” with the highest evaluation .

*5 Target: Domestic Group Companies ※6 Target: KOSE Co., Ltd. ※7 Target: The entire KOSÉ Group, including overseas subsidiaries

Going forward, with the aim of maximizing human capital, we will continue to work to create a workplace that respects diverse values by fostering a culture of enlightenment through the distribution of the “KOSE DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) Handbook,” which aims to make all employees understand the importance of diversity, inclusiveness, and fairness, and by promoting personnel system design where diverse employees can play an active role.
