Affected by the severe market environment, the Group is expected to achieve a net loss of about HK$1.44 billion to HK$1.49 billion for the year ended 31 December 2023, compared with a net loss of about HK$2,984 billion last year. The improvement in performance was mainly due to (1) a sharp narrowing of losses on proprietary investments; (2) a decrease in anticipated credit loss impairment provisions for bond investments and loans; and (3) the need to pay guaranteed income in accordance with asset management agreements.
