Hong Kong stocks had a “good start” after the Spring Festival. The overall performance of Hong Kong stocks was good in February. As of February 29, 2024, the Hang Seng Index, Hang Seng Technology, and Hang Seng China Enterprise Index had cumulative increases of 6.63%, 14.16%, and 9.32% respectively.

The agency believes that Hong Kong stocks are still at the bottom, but currently the short-term recovery of sentiment indicators is sufficient, and the market may need to bottom up and polish.

Looking ahead to the next trend of Hong Kong stocks, Everbright Securities believes that the two sessions are about to be held. Historically, the average probability of Hong Kong stocks rising and falling in the week after the two sessions is high. Market investors have some confidence in economic growth after the two meetings, and look forward to the strengthening of steady growth policies and the introduction of related industrial policies. Under the policy game, Hang Seng Technology is more flexible. Furthermore, US bond yields have returned to their previous high level, and are expected to fluctuate and fall in the future, which is beneficial to the further recovery of the Hong Kong stock market.

In terms of allocation, analysts recommend focusing on: 1) Technology stocks such as semiconductors, communications, and electronics where the industrial boom coexists with the AI main line. 2) It is recommended to continue to focus on high-dividend strategies, including telecommunications, petroleum and petrochemical, coal and other industries.
