By the midday close, Hong Kong stocks had risen 753, down 933, and closed at 1,297.

On the sector side, TechNet stocks generally fell, with JD falling nearly 3%, Tencent and Xiaomi falling nearly 1%, and Bilibili, Baidu, Meituan, Ali, and NetEase.
