Robert Averick Bought 5.1% More Shares In Amtech Systems

Simply Wall St ·  Feb 17 21:01

Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the Amtech Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASYS) Independent Director, Robert Averick, recently bought US$86k worth of stock, for US$4.21 per share. However, it only increased their shares held by 5.1%, and it wasn't a huge purchase by absolute value, either.

Amtech Systems Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The President Robert Daigle made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$260k worth of shares at a price of US$3.96 each. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of US$4.61. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

While Amtech Systems insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. They paid about US$5.94 on average. These transactions suggest that insiders have considered the current price attractive. Insider Ownership Of Amtech Systems

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Amtech Systems insiders own 15% of the company, worth about US$10m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Amtech Systems Tell Us?

It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchases. And the longer term insider transactions also give us confidence. However, we note that the company didn't make a profit over the last twelve months, which makes us cautious. Insiders likely see value in Amtech Systems shares, given these transactions (along with notable insider ownership of the company). In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing Amtech Systems.
