The China Automobile Association announced fuel cell vehicle production and sales data for December. FCV production and sales in December were about 1,300 and 1,500 units, up 98.8% and 149.1% year on year, and about 5,600 and 5,800 units for the full year of '23, up 55.3% and 72.0% year on year. FCV production and sales reached a record high, breaking 1,000 for the first time in a single month.

Zhu Keli, executive director of the China Information Association and founding director of the National Research Institute of New Economics, said that with the increase in the supply of cheap hydrogen and the reduction in storage and transportation costs, the economy of fuel cell vehicles will further improve, and it is expected that large-scale applications in the transportation field will be realized. Guojin Securities pointed out that with the introduction of local policies and regulations and the implementation of subsidies, FCV production and sales are expected to continue to grow at a high rate, and the hydrogen energy and fuel cell industry will enter a period of acceleration in volume in 2024.
