CITIC Securities said that compared with traditional electronic payments, private cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and Libra, central bank digital currencies have various advantages such as sovereign credit endorsement, strong scalability, good privacy, low cost, fast transactions, and low liquidation risk. The digital yuan has these advantages, and on the basis of completing traditional currency functions at a higher level, it has good application prospects in programmability and smart contracts, cross-border payments, and helping the internationalization of the RMB.
