About 500 OpenAI employees threatened to leave OpenAI and join Sam Altman's team at Microsoft unless the board of directors resigns and reinstates Altman as CEO.
The employees said in the letter that they have received assurances from Microsoft that if they join Microsoft, all OpenAI employees will get jobs in the new subsidiary.
Employees are also calling for the reinstatement of co-founder and former president Greg Brockman.
The letter stated, “Your dismissal of Sam Altman and removal of Greg Brockman from the board of directors affected all of our work, undermined our mission, and was bad for the company.”
OpenAI's chief scientist and board member Ilya Sutskever signed the letter. Earlier on Monday, he expressed regret over his previous participation in the board's actions.

On Thursday night, local time, Altman received a text message from Ilya Sutskever requesting a conversation at noon on Friday that only kicked off the “resignation storm.”
