Simply Wall St ·  Oct 23, 2023 18:00

We'd be surprised if Magic Empire Global Limited (NASDAQ:MEGL) shareholders haven't noticed that the CEO & Director, Sze Chen, recently sold US$200k worth of stock at US$1.02 per share. However, the silver lining is that the sale only reduced their total holding by 3.9%, so we're hesitant to read anything much into it, on its own.

Magic Empire Global Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent sale by CEO & Director Sze Chen was not their only sale of Magic Empire Global shares this year. Earlier in the year, they fetched US$2.04 per share in a -US$374k sale. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$0.93). So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.

Does Magic Empire Global Boast High Insider Ownership?

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. It's great to see that Magic Empire Global insiders own 58% of the company, worth about US$11m.
