1. Work hand in hand to promote the development of a circular economy for plastics

Currently, plastic packaging waste generated on a daily basis in Norway is transported to Central Europe for treatment. In order to promote the development of Norway's local plastic circular economy, Plastrettor initiated a sorting infrastructure construction plan in 2020.Because of Taulang's world-renowned sorting industry experience and cutting-edge technology,Plastretor chose Taurang as a partner to help achieve Norway's future resource recovery goals.

At the same time, the investment is also part of Taurang's strategy, which aims to use Taurang's expertise and extensive sorting knowledge and technology to build a profitable business focused on solving global environmental problems. Today, global recyclers' demand for high-quality recycled plastic materials is very strong and continues to grow, and Taurang's investment will also bridge the gap between supply and demand for raw materials. In response, Taurang's senior vice president Joachim N. Amland said, “Taurang is very pleased to participate in this project and will play an important role in Norway's transformation of plastic packaging to a circular economy. We are recovering wasted resources that were originally incinerated or landfilled, and using our expertise to provide the market with high-quality recycled materials, which is exactly what has been missing until now.”

2. Complement each other to bridge the gap between supply and demand for renewable raw materials

The joint venture plant will be Norway's first dedicated plastic packaging sorting plant. Among them, Plastrettor is responsible for purchasing plastic packaging waste from the Norwegian municipal, trade and industry departments and delivering it to the factory, while Taurang is responsible for sorting waste and selling raw materials. After sorting, the plastic feed will be divided into 7 types, which will be processed into high-quality recycled raw materials to produce new plastic packaging and other products.

The factory is scheduled to2023Groundbreaking began in the middle of the year, and2024Production began in the fourth quarter of the year.2025Production was fully put into operation in the first quarter of the year, and the plastic sorting capacity will reach every year9Ten thousand tons.

“I'm proud of the plastics sorting plant we will be setting up in Norway,” said Karl Johan Ingvaldsen, CEO of Plastreturn. The plant will be the cornerstone for meeting Norway's future resource recovery goals. Through this plant, we will play an important role in promoting the development of the Norwegian plastics recycling industry and reducing the cross-border transport of waste.”

Tove Andersen, President and CEO of Tauran Group, said, “The world must now transition to a circular economy, which means that the entire value chain needs to work together to find solutions as soon as possible, and the establishment of this joint venture plant just proves that this is possible. Taurang is proud to play a key role in this.”
