The Zhitong Finance App learned that, according to people familiar with the matter, Mastercard (MA.US) and Visa (V.US) are in negotiations to acquire Brazilian fintech company Pismo. According to information, Pismo is a financial infrastructure service provider that provides cloud payments and banking platforms, and has many well-known customers including Banco Itaú and BTG. People familiar with the matter mentioned above said that Pismo is cooperating with Goldman Sachs to obtain a valuation of about 1 billion US dollars. Interested investors include a bank and private equity fund.
People familiar with the matter also said that since no agreement has been reached so far, it is still possible that the negotiations will end without reaching an agreement. Since the negotiations were conducted privately, people familiar with the matter requested not to be named.
Representatives of Pismo, Mastercard, Visa, and Goldman Sachs all declined to comment on this.
According to reports, Pismo's investors include SoftBank Latin America Fund (SoftBank Latin America Fund), Amazon (AMZN.US), Falabella Ventures, and Redpoint Ventures.
It is worth mentioning that last week, Valor quoted people familiar with the matter as reporting that Visa offered 1.4 billion US dollars to buy Pismo. This is Visa's second offer to Pismo. Previously, Visa had bid $1 billion. Neither Pismo nor Visa have commented on this.
