In terms of quantity, since 2023, the State Administration of Press and Publication has issued a total of 269 imported game versions. The overall number of domestic editions issued has also gradually stabilized. The number of copies issued in the last three months has all been around 90.
In response, Wanlian Securities pointed out that the National Press and Publication Administration has basically maintained the pace of issuing imported game editions once a year. In recent years, the distribution period has been concentrated in the second half of the year. At the same time, the number of imported versions issued from 2020 to 2023 was 97, 76, 44, and 27 respectively. Although the number of imported versions issued this time is small, the time is less than three months from December 28, which does not indicate the number distributed throughout the year. Judging from the current pace, Wanlian Securities expects that it may continue to release imported game versions after this year, and normalization of the distribution of imported versions is expected to arrive.
The number and frequency of edition numbers issued is also gradually stabilizing. Since this year, the number of game versions has remained above 80. “The pace of domestic editions being released once a month is quite clear, and industry expectations are also relatively good. In this way, there are about 1,000 editions a year, which is very beneficial to the healthy development of the game industry.” An industry insider told the media.
Zhang Yi, CEO of Ai Media Consulting, said that the domestic game market is gradually picking up, and the industry is expected to break out of its overall poor state in the second half of the year. “Most game companies have sufficient product reserves, but there don't seem to be any new products with special standards, but after this round of version supply, it is expected that some of the more mainstream products will be launched.” He anticipated.
