According to the latest report from International data Corporation (IDC) on January 26, global smartphone shipments fell 18.3% to 3.003 billion units in the fourth quarter of 2022 from a year earlier, the biggest quarterly decline on record.
IT House learned that IDC said shipments fell 11.3% year-on-year to 1.21 billion units in 2022, the lowest annual shipment since 2013, mainly due to a sharp drop in consumer demand, inflation and economic uncertainty.
Specifically, in the fourth quarter of 2022,$Apple (AAPL.US)$, Samsung,$XIAOMI-W (01810.HK)$, OPPO and vivo ranked top five in market share, with shipments of 72.3 million (24.1%), 58.2 million (19.4%), 33.2 million (11.0%), 25.3 million (8.4%) and 22.9 million (7.6%), respectively.
In 2022, Samsung, Apple Inc, XIAOMI, OPPO and vivo ranked among the top five in market share, with shipments of 260.9 million (21.6%), 226.4 million (18.8%), 153.1 million (12.7%), 103.3 million (8.6%) and 99 million (8.2%), respectively.
