Big business in the game world, it is said that Tencent and Hillhouse are considering bidding for the game company Nexon.

Tencent has been shortlisted for the acquisition of South Korean game company Nexon, South Korea's Economic Daily reported. The deal, which could be worth up to $13.3 billion (89.2 billion yuan), will be formally tendered as early as early April. If true, it would be the highest acquisition in the history of the global gaming industry.

It is understood that Tencent and Kakao, South Korea's largest chat software operator, have been shortlisted for the acquisition of South Korean game company Nexon. The other three finalists are MBK Partners, Bain Capital and an unknown private equity firm.

It is reported that Nexon is a computer game company founded in South Korea in December 1994 and listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange of Japan. Nexon, once headquartered in Seoul, moved its operating headquarters to Tokyo as a holding company in December 2011, and actual control transferred to NXC on Jeju Island. The game has become Nexon's biggest cash cow in the Chinese market, with more than 5 million people online in 2016 and is still contributing huge revenue to Nexon. With revenue totaling 4.54 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2017, "Dungeon & Fighter" contributed 2.74 billion yuan in China alone. Professionals believe that Tencent is strong in the shortlist and is expected to acquire Nexon.

Nomura Securities recently reported that it maintained Tencent's "buy" investment rating and target price of HK $400, while Goldman Sachs Group reiterated its "buy" rating by raising its target price to HK $418 at the end of February.
