Maersk, the world's largest shipping company, announced its third-quarter performance. Quarterly profit rose 63% year-on-year to US $8.879 billion, while revenue rose 37% to US $22.767 billion. Profit before interest, discounted and net income rose 56% year-on-year to US $10.862 billion, higher than the market forecast of US $2.78 billion.
The company's forecast for global consumer transport demand is expected to rise by 1% year-on-year to fall by 1% from earlier forecast, and to decline by 2% to 4% year-on-year. The company also expects to realize US $37 billion in EBITDA for the whole year, and US $30.326 billion in EBITDA in the first nine months of this year, an annual increase of 89%.
