The Zhitong Finance App learned that GlaxoSmithKline (GSK.US) appointed Julie Brown, the former chief financial officer and operating officer of the luxury brand Burberry, as the company's chief financial officer on Monday. Currently, the British pharmaceutical company is focusing more on its core business.
Brown, 60, will succeed Iain Mackay, who is about to retire after more than 3 years as financial director at GlaxoSmithKline. Previously, GlaxoSmithKline divested its large consumer business, Haleon, and began focusing on the prescription drug and vaccine business.
With Brown taking office and Emma Walmsley as CEO of GlaxoSmithKline, the pharmaceutical company created a rare all-female executive.
