Musk said he had just launched a minimalist official order page for Model 3 with lower-cost, mid-range batteries. The car is reported to have a mileage of about 260mph and sells for $45000, which is $4000 cheaper than the entry price of the premium Model 3 launched last year, while the long-range version of the Model 3 costs $54000, has a mileage of 310mph and has a faster top speed and acceleration time of 0-60 mph.

Musk said that the price of $35000 is the price of the federal government and California tax rebate subsidies, so it may not be difficult for future buyers to beat so many discounts. Starting next year, Tesla, Inc. 's buyers will not be able to receive a full $7500 federal tax credit because Tesla, Inc. 's July sales exceeded the sales threshold of 200000 vehicles. This subsidy incentive will be halved in the first half of next year and will continue to be halved in the second half of next year. So the launch of a cheaper Model 3 at this time may lead to some buyers placing orders before next year, giving a boost to Tesla, Inc. 's sales.
