[TechWeb] according to foreign media reports, Apple Inc has approved BOE to provide OLED panels for iPhone 14.

BOE has passed Apple Inc's iPhone 14 certification and will start mass production of about 5 million OLED panels later this month, which will be used to supply the standard 6.1in iPhone 14, foreign media said, citing supply chain information.

Compared with Samsung and LG, the order size of BOE is much smaller. It is estimated that Samsung will supply 60 million OLED panels to Apple Inc, while LG will supply 25 million OLED panels.

It is reported that the supply of OLED panels for Apple Inc by BOE is not so smooth. Earlier, it was reported that BOE would supply 10 million OLED panels to Apple Inc's iPhone 14 series models.

But later, because BOE modified the design of the OLED panel supplied to iPhone 13 without Apple Inc's permission, it was eventually discovered by Apple Inc, causing it to be removed from the Apple Inc supply chain.

Later, BOE sent senior executives to Apple Inc headquarters to explain the matter and was given the opportunity to provide samples for evaluation of iPhone 14 series models.

In June this year, Apple Inc evaluated the OLED panel samples provided by BOE again. In the end, the OLED panel of BOE passed the Apple Inc certification, and the company got the order for iPhone 14 panel.

Founded in April 1993, BOE produces not only OLED screens for Huawei, Glory, XIAOMI and vivo, but also liquid crystal displays (LCD) for Apple Inc's iPad and MacBooks.
