May 26th, BABA Group$BABA (BABA.US) $$BABA-SW (09988.HK) $According to the latest financial results released, BABA Group repurchased about 17.8 million American depositary shares (equivalent to about 142.8 million common shares) for about $2 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2022 (the quarter ended March 31, 2022). In fiscal year 2022, BABA Group repurchased about 60 million American depositary shares (equivalent to about 480.3 million common shares) for about $9.6 billion.
On December 28, 2020, the board of directors of BABA Group authorized the repurchase of 10 billion US dollars of American depositary shares. BABA Group announced the expansion of its share buyback program from US $10 billion to US $15 billion when it announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2022 on August 3, 2021. On March 22, 2022, BABA Group announced that the total amount of its share buyback plan would be raised from US $15 billion to US $25 billion, making it the largest repurchase plan in the history of Chinese stocks. The share buyback program expires in March 2024.
