On May 26th, BABA announced the results for the quarter ended March 31, 2022 (corresponding to the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2022) before the US stock market:

• Total revenue was 204.05 billion yuan, up 9% from the same period last year; cloud business revenue was 18.97 billion yuan, up 12% from the same period last year; and revenue from the local living services division increased 29% year-on-year to 10.445 billion yuan

• Adjusted net profit was 19.799 billion yuan, down 24% from the same period last year.

• Adjusted income per ADS is 7.95 yuan, compared with 10.32 yuan in the same period last year.

Among them, Aliyun's annual income before and after offsetting cross-division transactions was 100.18 billion yuan and 74.568 billion yuan respectively.The year achieved the first annual profit in 13 yearsAdjusted EBITA made a profit of 1.146 billion yuan this year, up from a loss of 2.251 billion yuan last year.

On the operational side, the 12 months ended March 31, 2022BABA Group's global annual active consumers are about 1.31 billion, with an annual net increase of 177 million, including a net increase of 113 million in the Chinese market and 64 million in overseas consumers.It is worth noting that more than 124 million of annual active consumers spend more than 10, 000 yuan on Taobao Tmall, and the annual activity rate is more than 98%.

Zhang Yong, chairman and CEO of BABA Group, said that this quarter, the Group successfully achieved its goal of serving active consumers in China in 1 billion, and achieved a global commodity trading volume of 8.317 trillion yuan for the whole year.

In addition, in the quarter ended March 31, 2022, BABA bought back about 17.8 million ADS copies at a price of about $2 billion under the share buyback plan.

Financial report forecast

Analysts had expected revenue of 200.664 billion yuan in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2022 and an adjusted net profit of 18.667 billion yuan, according to Bloomberg.
