China Star Holdings (08237.HK) announced that under the service agreement and supplementary agreement with the Singapore government authorities, the company's main hotel in Singapore, the China Star Hotel, has been used as COVID-19 quarantine accommodation. The board of directors announced that after the hotel is no longer quarantined, it will be closed from December 14, 2021 for, among other things, cleaning, disinfection and related government inspections.
The hotel has been used as COVID-19 quarantine accommodation under these service agreements since the second quarter of 2020 and is subject to regular renewal by the Singapore authorities. Under these service agreements, the use of the hotel as quarantine accommodation was originally scheduled to be extended to February 2022. However, the Singapore government authorities have recently informed the company that in view of the current COVID-19 epidemic situation there and the latest changes in border measures in Singapore, the Government has exercised its rights under these service agreements to terminate the use of the hotel as quarantine accommodation early with effect from 14 December 2021. After that, the hotel will be closed for about three months to carry out cleaning, disinfection and related government inspections before normal business, upgrade certain facilities to meet government standards for epidemic prevention purposes, and renovate some furniture and fittings.
