[TechWeb] last week, MediaTek announced a new 5G smartphone processor Tianyu 9000, which uses ArmV9 architecture and is manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd using 4nm technology, with better performance than the previous Tianji series processors.

The report said that the better performance of the Tianyu 9000 processor will also be higher in terms of cost, which will be more than twice that of the Tianyu 1200.

Tianji 1200 is MediaTek's flagship 5G smartphone processor launched at the beginning of this year, which is built by 6nm technology and brings excellent experience in many aspects, such as AI, camera, multimedia and so on.

The report also mentioned that although the cost of the Tianji 9000 is significantly higher than that of the previous Tianji series of smartphone processors, it is still lower than Qualcomm Inc's upcoming flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

According to the report, in addition to the Tianyu 9000 that has already been launched, MediaTek is also developing a Tianyu 7000 processor, which uses Arm Cortex-A78 core and will be built with 5nm technology, which will cost less than Tianji 9000.

It is not clear which manufacturers will launch smartphones with Tianyu 9000 processors, but reports say smartphones with this processor will be launched in February next year.
