Food company CJ CheilJedang rises 3.5% after announcing its business expansion into biodegradable plastic materials. Construction firm Samsung Engineering climbs 4.0%, while excavator maker Hyundai Construction Equipment gains 2.3%. Oil refiner S-Oil adds 1.4% as the U.S. and other countries tap strategic oil reserves to check rising crude prices. Apple supplier LG Innotek advances 3.2%.
