Korea's Kospi 0.9% Higher as Bullish View on Micron Boosts Tech Stocks -- Market Talk

Dow Jones Newswires ·  Nov 22, 2021 08:40

0037 GMT - South Korea's Kospi is 0.9% higher at 2996.72 in early trade, led by gains in large-cap electronics stocks. Foreign and institutional investors are net buyers in morning trade. Index heavyweight Samsung Electronics rises 3.5% and memory-chip maker SK Hynix jumps 6.3%. Analysts say U.S. semiconductor firm Micron Technology's rally on Friday--sparked by Evercore ISI's bullish view on the stock--has buoyed investor sentiment and eased market jitters about a chip industry downturn. Electronic-component makers also advance. Apple supplier LG Innotek adds 2.1% and Samsung Electro-Mechanics gains 2.0%. Shipping company HMM advances 1.8%. Steelmaker Posco is 1.4% higher.
