Canadian stocks were slightly lower at midday Wednesday as most sectors were in the red, while non-energy minerals and producer manufacturing were higher. Boyd Group Services Inc. shares slipped after it reported lower profit in the third quarter and forecast labor and supply issues to persist into the next quarter.

Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index was down 0.14% at 21564.53 while the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 was down 0.12% at 1296.29.

Boyd's shares fell 8.6% to C$6.84 after the company said labor availability and supply-chain issues continue to drive up costs and prices.

Other market movers:

Imperial Metals Corp. shares fell 0.5% to C$3.83 after it said metal grades at its British Columbia joint-venture mine weighed on its third quarter performance.

Shares in Electra Battery Materials Corp., formerly First Cobalt Corp., fell 5.1% at C$0.38 after saying it plans to increase the design capacity of its cobalt refinery by 30%, increasing the estimated budget for the project to $67 million, up from its previous $60 million.
