A US footwear organization representing nearly 500 companies said on Tuesday that the price of children's shoes in the US had soared to its highest level in 70 years due to high tariffs and supply chain disruptions, and urged US President Joe Biden to resolve the issue.
According to the American Association of Shoe Distributors and Retailers, the main culprit is the tariffs imposed on shoes produced in foreign markets, which may reach up to nearly 70%.
US President Joe Biden is urged to resolve the issue of children's shoe prices reaching a 70-year high.
In a letter to Biden, the organization said, “Poor families and working-class families are spending dramatically on children's shoes. Children's shoes are among the products with the highest tariffs of all products.”
