Squid Game has become the most watched TV series in Netflix Inc's history since it began broadcasting a month ago. According to the company's latest estimates, the show had more than 132 million global viewers in the first 23 days, more than the previous estimate of 111 million. Netflix Inc estimates that this has created an "impact value" of about $891 million.
"impact value" refers to a combination of data, including how often new and existing customers watch a program, cost efficiency, and the impact on long-term viewers. Squid Game costs about $21 million to produce, but revenue will grow exponentially by attracting and maintaining subscribers.
Netflix Inc's internal estimate revealed more information about squid games, including 89 per cent of viewers who had watched at least one episode and 66 per cent of viewers who had finished watching the season. The data also show that "Squid Game" was watched for more than 1.4 billion hours in the first 28 days of release, more than double the total viewing time of the first season of "Bridgeton" before Netflix Inc.
