TeslaElon Musk, chief executive, said on Thursday that he was in talks with airlines to install Starlink, a satellite-based broadband service.
Musk did not provide any details about the talks in his tweet.
Star chain is a satellite Internet project of SpaceX. From 2019 to 2024, SpaceX plans to use five years to send thousands of satellites needed for networking into low-Earth orbit to form a "star chain" network to provide Internet services. At present, the "Star chain" network has launched more than 1700 satellites.
At the end of October last year, SpaceX first launched the "Star chain" testing service in some parts of the United States. The service costs $99 a month, while users pay $499 for related equipment, including terminal receivers, tripods and Wifi routers.
According to feedback from test users, the trial speed of "Star chain" has exceeded 160 Mbps, surpassing 95% of broadband connections in the United States. Most of the tested users' network speeds are in the range given by SpaceX, that is, between 50 Mbps and 150 Mbps.
