As India's stock market rose, the total wealth of the country's richest people also hit an all-time high.

According to the latest Forbes list, the total wealth of India's richest 100th people has increased by $257 billion over the past year to a record $775 billion, an increase of 50 per cent.

The fastest-growing wealth of these people is infrastructure tycoon Gautam Gautam Adani. As the share prices of all his listed companies soared, Adani's wealth almost tripled to $74.8 billion, ranking second on India's rich list for the third year in a row.

At the top of the list is still Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, with a net worth of $92.7 billion, up 4.5 per cent over the past year. This is the 13th year in a row that he has been the richest man in India.

More than 80 per cent of the rich on the list have increased their wealth over the past year, with 61 of them increasing their wealth by more than $1 billion. The rise in technology stocks has increased the wealth of software giant HCL Technologies founder Shiv Nadar by $10.6 billion, making him the third richest person on the list with assets of $31 billion. Retail giant Radhakishan Damani remained in fourth place, nearly doubling his net worth to $29.4 billion.
