It's been a week since the fuel shortage in the UK caused chaos across the country, and it's still difficult for many car owners to fill their cars with fuel.

According to the British Gasoline Retailers Association, more than a quarter of gas stations across the UK are fuel-free, and another 20% have only one grade of fuel. Many gas stations around London are still closed because there is no fuel, and there are long lines at gas stations that are still in business.

Gordon Balmer, executive director of the British Gasoline Retailers Association, said in an interview with Bloomberg Radio that “it will take a few weeks to return to normal”, that is, there is no line of cars and there is no shortage of gas stations.

The British government said that emergency measures — deploying a fleet of reserve fuel tankers and keeping troops on standby to drive trucks for transportation — have eased the crisis somewhat. However, there is little sign that car owners have taken advice from the government to slow down their purchases, and the speed of fuel transportation can hardly keep up with strong demand.
