研究称未来十年亚洲将新增逾10亿中产阶层

More than 1 billion people in Asia will join the global middle class by 2030, according to a new study, and the pandemic will prove to be just a temporary stop in the huge demographic changes in the world economy.

According to the World Data Lab (World Data Lab), the middle class is a household that spends between $11 and $110 per person per day. Currently, about 3.75 billion people in the world belong to this class. This group is expected to continue to grow over the next ten years, with India and China, the most populous countries, adding about 750 million more.

Other fastest-growing countries are also in Asia, including countries such as Indonesia and Bangladesh. Indonesia is expected to surpass Russia and Japan to become the country with the fourth largest middle class in the world by 2030. However, Bangladesh's ranking will rise faster than any other country. It will rise from current 28th place to 11th place in 2030, adding more than 5,000 middle class consumers.

Research shows that Asian countries already account for more than half of the global middle class, yet they only account for 41% of this group's consumption expenditure. By 2032, this share will be over 50%.

According to World Data Lab's predictions, China, India, and the US are expected to continue to be among the top three countries with the largest middle class populations. Slow or negative population growth in some advanced economies will cause the number of middle classes in countries such as Japan, Germany, Italy, and Poland to shrink.
