Walmart Inc, the largest retailer in the United StatesThe company will raise the hourly wages of more than 565000 US store workers by at least $1 as the retail industry faces a tight labour market as it enters the holiday shopping season, it said on Thursday.

Walmart Inc U.S. CEO John Funer (John Furner) said in a memo to employees that this is the company's third investment in salary in the past year, and Walmart Inc's average hourly wage in the United States is now $16.40.

Employees who work in the front end of Walmart Inc's store, the food and consumer goods department and the general goods department will receive higher wages, and the pay increase will take effect on Sept. 25, Mr. Funer said.

With the continuation of the COVID-19 epidemic, enterprises are facing fierce personnel competition and have to improve employee welfare. Earlier this week, Walmart Inc announced plans to hire 20, 000 workers in his supply chain to prepare for the holiday shopping season and for more people to shop online. In July this year, Walmart Inc also said that he would pay 100 per cent of tuition and book fees for university employees.
