Generac Holdings (GNRC.US), a supplier of backup portable generators, is expected to profit from a series of natural disasters in the United States this year.
Shares of Generac soared 4.8% on Monday to an intraday high of $458.1 after hurricane Ida swept the Louisiana coast, Zhitong financial APP learned. The company's shares have risen 95% this year after fires, high temperatures and extremely cold weather left millions of Americans without power.
Generac said last month that sales of household backup generators almost doubled in the second quarter from a year earlier due to widespread power outages in Texas caused by extremely cold weather in February.
Pearce Hammond, an analyst at Piper Sandler, said Hurricane Ida boosted Generac's backup power business. It also raised the company's revenue forecast, raising its target share price to $510 from $480.
As of Monday's close, Generac was up 1.28% at $442.7.
