DJ Malaysia Shares Fall 0.5% on Profit Taking -- Market Talk

0118 GMT - Malaysia's stock benchmark Kuala Lumpur Composite Index falls 0.5% to 1577.48, amid profit-taking following recent gains in blue chips, TA Securities says. KLCI may continue to advance further, driven by easing domestic political risk, progress in local vaccination and extension of short-selling ban by the stock exchange operator, it says. However, upside is likely to be capped near the 1600-1615 territory, it adds. Maxis slips 1.7%, Press Metal Aluminium declines 1.5% and Hong Leong Financial Group is 1.4% lower. Petronas Chemicals gains 1.2% and MISC rises 0.3%. (chester.tay@wsj.com)
