Crude oil futures rose for the second trading day in a row on Tuesday in the early morning of Beijing time, closing at their highest level in more than a week.

It is reported that China has reported zero new confirmed cases of COVID-19 for the first time since July, allaying fears that the Delta variant will lead to a drop in energy demand.

Edward Moya, senior market analyst at Oanda, said: "the headlines show that some countries have dealt with the Delta strain much better and the rebound in oil prices will only continue."

Traders are still waiting for U.S. energy product supply data for the week ended Aug. 20 released by the American Petroleum Institute (API) on Tuesday night and the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Wednesday morning.

According to Standard & Poor's Global Platts Energy Information Survey, analysts on average expect the government report to show that U.S. crude oil supply fell by 3.2 million barrels last week.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for October delivery rose $1.90, or 2.9%, to $67.54 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
