An Amazon.Com IncThe former employee of the warehouse recently took the company to court because she suffered from irritable bowel syndrome and often went to the toilet during working hours, and the company fired her in retaliation.

The employee, Maria Iris Janet Olivero (Maria Iris Jennitte Olivero), filed a lawsuit in New Jersey Superior Court in June, demanding Amazon.Com Inc pay damages. Earlier this month, Amazon.Com Inc responded by trying to escalate the case to a federal court.

Olivero said in the indictment that she told a manager in November that she had irritable bowel syndrome and needed to go to the bathroom six times a day, and the manager asked her to get a doctor's certificate. But Olivero failed to get the certificate in the next two months.

In January, her manager said she would be on the record and that she needed to get a doctor's certificate within five days. But Olivero said in the complaint that the earliest she could make an appointment with a doctor was six days later.

Olivero was fired five days after she was put on the record, and the manager said it was too late to provide proof.

Olivero accused Amazon.Com Inc of discriminating against people with physical disabilities and failing to tolerate them in accordance with the New Jersey Anti-Discrimination Act (New Jersey's Law against Discrimination).

Olivero did not specify how much compensation she would ask for in the lawsuit. But Amazon.Com Inc said she was expected to ask for more than $75000, which is one of the reasons the company sought to take the case to federal court.

The company also detailed Oliver's salary as a reason to refer the case to federal court.

Amazon.Com Inc's lawyer said: "the plaintiff earns $15.25 per hour, $31720.00 per year, and receives a shift allowance of $0.60 per hour and $1248 per year." As a result, the total wages lost by the plaintiff at the time of filing the lawsuit amounted to $17251.75. "
