General Motors CoIt said on Monday that it would replace all battery modules for some Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles that announced a recall last month.

GM announced last month that it would recall nearly 69000 Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles worldwide because of defective battery modules and the risk of fire. This is the second time in less than a year that the company has recalled the electric car. After the first recall in November, there were two fires, including a Chevrolet Bolt with upgraded software.

GM said on Monday that it would replace the lithium-ion battery module of the recalled vehicle with a new battery module instead of the entire battery pack. "there is nothing wrong with the shell, wiring and other components of the battery pack and does not need to be replaced," GM said on Monday. "

GM said at the end of July that its second-quarter results included $800m in costs related to the recall of Bolt electric vehicles.

The company also requires car owners to recharge after each use and try to avoid driving when the remaining mileage is less than 70 miles (112 kilometers) to reduce the risk of fire.

The company also said it still advises customers to park their cars outside immediately after charging, rather than letting them recharge overnight.
