United Kingdom insurance giant Aviva has announced on Monday that it has reached an agreement to acquire the smaller competitor Direct Line for £3.7 billion (approximately $4.65 billion) in Cash and Stocks, creating the largest home and auto insurance company in the United Kingdom. Aviva and Direct Line reached a preliminary agreement in early December. According to UK acquisition regulations, Aviva must submit a formal Quote before Christmas or abandon the acquisition.
