The nasdaq 100 index initially rose by 1.2%, with marvell technology skyrocketing by 23%, leading the component stocks, while nvidia increased by about 3.5%—second only to Salesforce (which rose 11%) among the dow constituents. Intel fell by 2.3%, and onsemi and microchip technology both declined by over 5%. The s&p 500 index initially rose by 0.6%, the technology sector increased by over 1.7%, the consumer discretionary sector rose by 1.2%, while the energy sector fell by 2.5%.
