The Korean News Agency reported that South Korea plans to export 22 tons of rice to Japan, setting a record since Statistics began. The Japan office of the Korean Agricultural Cooperative stated that Japan imported 2 tons of rice from South Korea in March this year, and is expected to import another 20 tons in May. The United Kingdom's Guardian stated, "This is Japan's first rice import from South Korea in 25 years."
